How to Crochet a Straight Edge
/ Bailey Williams
Today I have a simple tutorial for you guy’s that can really improve your (already amazing) crochet skills.
Sometimes, when working a one stitch pattern the edges can bulk out or even create holes depending on how many chains you begin with and which stitch you start in. This mistake has a very simple fix!
The simple way to fix this common problem can really be summed up in once sentence - Do not count your chains as a stitch.
How many chains should I use when starting with a…
Single Crochet - Chain 1
Half Double Crochet - Chain 1
Double Crochet - Chain 2
Triple Crochet - Chain 3
That’s pretty much it! Using these chain numbers will prevent those messy holes and keep your work looking as clean and professional as possible.
So if you have ever wanted to learn how to crochet a stitch that looks "knit" I have the perfect (and of course easy) stitch tutorial for you all!

The Breah beanie was inspired by my love for quick, easy and simple projects. As we’re getting closer to the Holiday season I find myself needing more gifts for friends and family. Shawls and scarves have recently made their way into my heart. These accessories were once something I despised making and wearing, but as I’ve grown as a designer (and moved to a colder climate) I find that I just can’t get enough of them!
Long ago, back when Hooked On Tilly was just patterns on Etsy and had horrible (Yes, that bad) photography, I designed a beanie pattern. I was so happy with the result and couldn’t wait to share it with my small following at the time. I quickly took pictures on my white fur rug (we were all doing that back then, right?) posted the pattern to Etsy and…nothing.

As Fall is approaching I’ve noticed a multitude of “crochet pumpkin” patterns show up all over my Pinterest feed. I LOVE how they look. I went ahead and designed two more pumpkins to go along with this one so that you can make your own “Crochet Pumpkin Patch!”

As Fall is approaching I’ve noticed a multitude of “crochet pumpkin” patterns show up all over my Pinterest feed. I LOVE how they look, but one thing I noticed was I didn’t see any patterns using a textured stitch. We all know I love textured stitches.

In all the years I've been crocheting/knitting I am yet to make a pom pom rug! Of course, this DIY does not require you to crochet/knit but with having such a large yarn stash you would think I'd have made one by now.

Hey Guy's!
Recently, a family friend of ours visited us and she happened to bring along dish scrubbies. Random? Yes. Useful? Totally.
As our we chatted she began to tell me about her dish scrubbies, she went on to say that making them was her "thing." She exclaimed, "They are a great and quick project that I am easily able to sell for my fundraisers."
This throw has definitely made it's way to the top of my "Favorite Cozy Blankets I've made list" mostly do to the fact I despise crocheting blankets and i've honestly only made 3 in my crochet career.
As for the name; Hygge. I chose this Danish name specifically because of it's wondrous meaning.
" In Danish, hygge (pronounced “HUE-gah”) is one such word. Though there are many ways to describe hygge, we see it simply as the Danish ritual of enjoying life's simple pleasures. Friends. Family. Graciousness."
